ABSTRACT
The Youth Livelihood and Employment Project, implemented by Sierra Leone YMCA, is empowering vulnerable young people, particularly those affected by COVID-19, with skills and opportunities to build sustainable livelihoods. Operating in Freetown, Lungi, Bo, and Kenema, the project provides vocational training in high-demand fields such as metalworks, tailoring, catering, and plastic recycling. Through entrepreneurship training, business incubation support, and startup grants, participants—70% of whom are young women—are now launching businesses and securing employment. As we celebrate the achievements of our recent graduates, whose success stories will be shared through their photos, we recognize the project’s impact in bridging the skills gap, promoting job creation, and fostering self-reliance. By equipping youth with the tools they need to thrive, this initiative is driving economic growth and social stability in Sierra Leone.
