17/02/2026NGO WEEK 2026

As the NGO Week draws to a close today, YMCA Sierra Leone proudly joins the Sierra Leone Non-Governmental Organizations, in partnership with the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, to commemorate a week dedicated to celebrating the vital role of NGOs in national development.
The week-long activities commenced with nationwide health walks across Freetown, Makeni, and other parts of the country, continuing through Kenema and beyond. These engagements aimed to raise public awareness on the impact of NGOs, strengthen collaboration with government, and promote community-centered development.
The commemoration concluded today in Freetown with a high-level conference that brought together representatives from diverse NGOs to share insights, experiences, and commitments. The theme, “Collaboration, Sustainability, and Local Empowerment,” underscored the shared responsibility of NGOs, government, and communities in building a resilient and inclusive Sierra Leone.
YMCA Sierra Leone remains committed to advancing sustainable development, empowering young people and communities, and strengthening partnerships that drive lasting impact.
